Who operates SafarMate

SafarMate is the travel-planning application covered by this policy. Privacy questions and data requests can be sent to support@smufysolutions.com.

Information you provide

• Account information: email address, Firebase user identifier, email-verification status, and authentication information managed by Firebase Authentication. SafarMate does not store your readable password.
• Trip information: starting place, destination, countries, travel dates and modes, traveller counts, children's ages, accessibility or elderly-traveller preferences, pace, food preferences, budget, currency, Jama and Qasr preferences, itinerary notes, preparation progress, and journey keepsakes you choose to enter or save.
• Household and Weekend Ideas preferences: home city, household composition, travel-time range, budget, environment, favourite categories, and reminder choices.
• Communications: feedback and support or deletion requests you choose to submit.

Location and device sensors

SafarMate requests foreground location only after you choose a feature that needs it, such as Prayer Times, Qibla Finder, nearby masjid search, or Weekend Ideas. Depending on device settings, the operating system may provide approximate or precise coordinates and an approximate place name.

Prayer-time and Qibla calculations occur on the device. The Qibla Finder also reads the device compass while that screen is open. SafarMate does not continuously track location in the background.

When you request Weekend Ideas, an approximate location label and coordinates may be sent through SafarMate's Cloud Function to generate nearby suggestions. Places entered for a trip may be normalized to approximate city-centre coordinates and stored with that saved trip. You may decline location access and use a manually selected city instead.

AI-generated features

SafarMate uses OpenAI through SafarMate-controlled Firebase Cloud Functions to validate place names and generate trip plans and Weekend Ideas. Information needed for the request, such as trip details, traveller preferences, place names, and an approximate Weekend Ideas location, is sent to OpenAI. SafarMate does not intentionally include your email address or password in these AI requests.

Generated recommendations may be inaccurate or incomplete. Please review the Terms of Use before relying on travel, religious, safety, cost, route, restaurant, accommodation, or accessibility information.

Information stored on your device

SafarMate may store authentication state, offline trip packs, recent Weekend Ideas, prayer-location mode, reminder identifiers, etiquette actions, and other application preferences on your device. Travel-dua audio is bundled with the application.

Prayer and travel reminders are scheduled locally on your device. SafarMate does not currently send remote advertising notifications. PDF travel documents are generated on your device and are sent elsewhere only when you choose a destination through the device sharing interface.

How information is used

• Authenticate accounts and protect account-owned information.
• Generate, save, display, export, and delete requested travel content.
• Personalize prayer, family, accessibility, food, and Weekend Ideas features.
• Enforce monthly generation allowances and prevent abuse.
• Provide support, investigate failures, maintain security, and meet legal obligations.

SafarMate does not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or access contacts, photos, microphone recordings, payment cards, or background location.

Service providers and external links

Google Firebase provides authentication, cloud database storage, hosting, and Cloud Functions. OpenAI processes the limited request content described above to provide generated features. These providers may process technical and operational information under their applicable terms and security practices.

Map, directions, flight-search, and other external links open services chosen by you, commonly Google Maps or Google search. Once opened, the external provider handles information under its own privacy policy. SafarMate does not operate those external services.

Security

SafarMate uses encrypted network connections, verified accounts, Firebase security rules, account ownership checks, and server-side generation limits. No system can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and keep your device and account credentials secure.

Retention and deletion

Cloud-saved information normally remains while your account is active or until you delete the relevant item. Usage records are retained to operate monthly allowances. Device-only information remains until you remove it, clear the application's data, uninstall the application, or complete in-app account deletion on that device.

Permanent account deletion removes the active Firebase Authentication account and associated SafarMate trips, itinerary notes, journey keepsakes, saved Weekend Ideas, feedback, household preferences, and generation-usage records. Limited security, fraud-prevention, legal, backup, or provider operational records may remain for the period reasonably required for those purposes and are not kept as an active SafarMate account.

Your controls

• Decline or revoke foreground location and notification permission in device settings.
• Use a manual city instead of GPS where that option is offered.
• Delete individual saved trips and saved Weekend Ideas.
• Delete the account and associated data inside SafarMate.
• Request deletion without app access using the account-deletion page.

Children

SafarMate is intended for adults and family organisers. Features may be tailored for children travelling with a family, but children should not create or operate accounts without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Support website

The SafarMate support pages do not intentionally use advertising cookies or analytics. Your browser and hosting provider may process ordinary technical request information needed to deliver and secure the pages.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when SafarMate's features or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be updated when changes are published.
